Biography

A well known steeplechaser with a gold medal in the 2014 Asiad, Sudha attempted the marathon at the 2015 world championship and finished 19th behind Jaisha with time of 2:35:35 hrs which was good enough to qualify for Rio. But it was the 3000 m track event that she was insterested in even if her coach had felt otherwise.

The Federation cup in Delhi this year in April proved her point as she won a silver clocking 9:31.86 which was well within the Rio bench mark of 9:45.00. The Rae Bareli girl had earlier a hat trick of silver-medal wins in 3000 m in the Asian meet from 2009 to 2013.

Incidentally Sudha is the national record holder in 3000m steeple chase which she set in May this year at the IAAF Diamong League where she finished eighth but clocked her personal best time of 9:26:55. At the London Olympics she could not much but thanks to her marathon training and her recent performances, there is much hope on her. Legend P.T.Usha believes she should make it to the final.
