Biography

Vikas is a gold medallist in the 2010 Asian Games in Guanzhou in the Lightweight category. Vikas won his first international medal, a gold, in the 2010 Asian Youth Championship in Teheran. Later in Singapore in the same year, he won a bronze in the Youth Olympics.

A gold in the Youth World championship propped his career further and then came the gold medal success in the Asiad in Guangzhou. A bronze in the welterweight section in World amateur championship 2011 was followed by an early elimination in the London Olympics.

At the Incheon Games in 2014, Vikas won a bronze in the middleweight (75 kg) and in the same weight category he won a silver in the 2015 Asian championship. He is in the same category in which Vijender Singh had won a bronze in the 2008 Olympics.

Currently he is ranked fourth in the world. Like Manoj, Vikas too by reaching the semi-final in Baku qualifying event booked his berth for Rio
