Steve Smith has undergone a dramatic career transformation in recent years. He made his one-day international debut against West Indies in 2010 and has since become an important part of the Australian line-up. Smith played six matches in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup with a top score of 25. His leg-spin has also been a handy ace up the sleeve of skipper Michael Clarke, and Smith himself has shown his leadership qualities in recent times. There’s no doubting Smith is in form and will be a key part of Australia’s World Cup plans. From 12 ODI innings in 2014, Smith scored two centuries – 101 off 118 balls against Pakistan and 104 from 112 balls against South Africa – to finish the year with 541 one-day runs.
