Biography

Sandeep earned an Olympic berth in April when he won a quota place with a bronze medal finish in the World olympic qualifying tournment in Mongolia. A national champion in 2012, this Navy wrestler's international achievements include gold medal in Copa Brasil, a tournament in Rio in 2012, gold medal in the 2013 Commonwealth championship in Johannesburg before his stature brought him into the pro wrestling league in 2015.

 

What really brought Tomar to the limelight was his Asian chamionship gold medal success in Bangkok in February. What was significant was that his win was over Asian Games champion Jong Hakjin of North Korea. He was also a gold medallist at the world military games in US in 2014. Chief coach Jagminder Singh believes that Tomar's key strength is his confidence. He is a wrestle with a strong self belief.
