Bengal Warriors moved to the top of the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 standings after a 40-39 win over Telugu Titans

Bengal Warriors extended their recent unbeaten run in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 to seven games and moved to the league summit after a 40-39 win against Telugu Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday. Maninder Singh was once again the star performer for Bengal Warriors and finished with 17 raid points.

The game began at a frenetic pace as Bengal Warriors raced into a 5-2 lead with raiders from both teams finding success frequently. Skipper Maninder was Bengal Warriors’ main point scorer, while Rajnish was proving to be Telugu Titans’ biggest threat early. Successful raids from Rajnish and Rakesh Gowda helped Telugu Titans tie the score at 5-5 before they moved into the lead around about the seventh minute mark.

However, Telugu Titans couldn’t build on their advantage as both defences began to have more of an influence on the game. Both sides continued to trade blows in what was a neck-to-neck battle until Maninder inadvertently stepped off court while raiding without being touched and drew three Telugu Titans players with him to give Bengal Warriors a 11-9 lead.

Sensing the shift in momentum, Maninder went in for the kill after returning to court and successfully executed a two-point raid to inflict an All-Out that extended Bengal Warriors’ lead to 16-9. Telugu Titans returned to the mat intent on fighting back and picked up a few points through good work in defence as well as attack. Maninder and Sukesh Hegde though kept the scoreboard ticking over for their team to ensure Bengal Warriors took a 19-13 lead into the break.

The second half got underway with ‘Baahubali’ Siddharth Desai setting the tone for his team with a swift raid. Telugu Titans went on to reduce Bengal Warriors’ lead moments later after a few more successful raids from Siddharth and Farhad Milaghardan. They eventually enforced an All-Out on Bengal Warriors to tie the score at 22-22 before a Super Raid by Siddharth made it 25-22 in favour of Telugu Titans.

Bengal Warriors’ captain Maninder though was proving to be a thorn in the side of Telugu Titans as he almost single-handedly dragged his team back into the contest with a succession of successful raids. His efforts were rewarded with six minutes left to play as Bengal Warriors enforced another All-Out to establish a 34-30 lead. Siddharth tried to spearhead a late fightback, however, Bengal Warriors defended intelligently, while continuing to score raid points to register a slender one-point win.
