New Delhi: A lot of excitement is on the cards as VIVO Pro Kabaddi League heavyweights ready themselves for a double-header at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi on Wednesday. In-form Haryana Steelers will take on Gujarat Fortunegiants in the first encounter which will be followed by a battle of the metros as home side Dabang Delhi lock horns with U Mumba.

Steelers in scintillating form

The Haryana Steelers are in a good patch of form with five wins in their last six encounters and will be keen to continue the good run when they take on Gujarat Fortunegiants. Vikash Kandola’s top raiding form will be a big cause of worry for the Fortunegiants but Gujarat’s elite cover combination of Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal are more than capable of coming up with a surprise. Unfortunately for the Fortunegiants their defence have been getting off to horrible starts. They average around 3 successful tackles in the first half and with the form Vikash Kandola is in, the game will be done and dusted by the half time if the lethargy in defence continues.

Naveen Express eyes a milestone

Dabang Delhi’s Naveen Kumar might only be 19 years old but the raider has already set the league on fire with his daring, speedy raids and will be eyeing to equal Pardeep Narwal’s record of eight Super 10s in consecutive matches when Delhi host former champions U Mumba. Mumbai have had a stuttering start to the Pro Kabaddi campaign but the defensive trio of Fazel Atrachali, Surinder Singh and Sandeep Narwal will be eager to stop Naveen Kumar from the milestone and restore some pride in the U Mumba defence. Athul MS’ raiding in Mumbai’s narrow win against Tamil Thalaivas would have come as positive for coach Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan who has seen his team struggle to get points on the raid.
