Biography

Aiborlang Khongjee is a good his tackler while also being a good header of the ball. He is also known for his ability to deliver accurate long balls thus adding an attacking thrust. The John Terry and Mahesh Gawli fan was brought up in a small village outside Shillong. His father was a footballer and hence his family encouraged him to play even though there was no scope for a career in football those days. His first major tournament was the under-17 Surboto Cup. He then got selected to play for the Sports Authority of India in Shillong. The stopper back signed his first professional contract with Shillong Lajong in 2005 and has had three stints with the Meghalaya club whom he is now with. In between he played for East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. He has represented India at the under-20 AFC Championship in 2006 and made his senior team debut in 2013.
