  • She became the first ever Indian pistol shooter to win gold at a World Cup Finals, after securing victory at the 2013 World Cup in Munich, Germany.

Biography

She is the first Indian shooter to be ranked world number one (as on April 7, 2014) byISSF. She is also the first Indian pistol shooter to have a gold in the 2013 ISSF world cup. Thus she joined illustious company of Anjaly Bhagwat (2003) and Gagan Narang (2008) to win a gold in a rifle/pistol event in world cup finals. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games New Delhi she and Annu Raj Singh won the women's pairs gold.

 

Heena also happens to be Finals world record holder in 10m air pistol with a final score of 203.8. She has a bagful of medals and achievments in various regional and continental events from 2008. At the London Olympics, which was her debut, she could not do much. Hopes are high here. Heena secured an Olympic quota for Rio with a gold medal win in the Asian qualifiers in New Delhi early this year.
