Biography

Laxmirani came to the limelight after winning the gold medal in the national games in the individual and team categories. The 26-year old reached the bronze medal match in the Asian in the individual category but lost out to Korean Choi Mi-sun. A tribal girl, her talent was spotted when at government school in her village.

 

She was transferred to the Archer academy and her career began soonafter. In recent times, Laxmirani was part of the Indian team that won a bronze in the world championship in Copenhagen in 2015. Her selection for Rio alongwith Deepika and Bombayala came after a series of trials over three months.

 

Experts believe she provides the right balance to the team with her ability to soak in pressure. Besides she can be consistent with ten scores, something that can be crucial in tight situations.
