Biography

In the 2006 Asian Games, Renjith finished fourth. He won the 2007 Asian championship with a 17.19 m jump. Could not do much in Beijing Asian Games. Renjith won the bronze medal in the Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 with jump of 17.10 m which was a national record.

In the 2012 London Olympics he fouled all three jumps and went out. The ace jumper qualified for Rio with a phenomenal 17.30 m, his personal best in the Indian Grand Prix in Bangalore. If he emulates this in Rio this Indian has a good chance of finishing on the podium. In Bangalore his progression began from 16.55 m. His second attempt was 16.75m and breached the Rio qualification mark if 16.85m with 16.93 m next.

Renjith shattered the national record of 17.17 m (Arpinder Singh, 2014) with his fourth jump of 17.30m. With this he is the third best jumper in this Olympic year with Americans Christian Taylor, Olympic and world champion (personal best of 18.21 m ) and Will Claye , former indoor world champion ahead of him.
