Achievements

  • At the Lusofonia Games, 2014 in Goa, Ghosh won gold medal in mixed doubles and men's team event as well as a silver and bronze in men's singles and doubles respectively.

 

Biography

A national champion at age 19, Soumayajit also was the youngest Indian player to qualify for London 2012. He has had a bright career till date. In 2010 Ghosh won the mixed doubles bronze in the world junior championship in Bahrain. He was also instrumental in India clinching a bronze in the world juniors next year when he won both his singles matches against the strong S. Korea in the quartefinals.

 

He was also part of the team that won the Asian junior championship in 2011. At the Lusofonia Games in Goa in 2014, Ghosh collected a bagful of medals including gold. Later in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow he reached the quarters in both singles and doubles and helped the team reach the semifinals. Ghosh got the berth to Rio thorugh the Asian qualifiers in Hong Kong where he truly sparkled with an unbeaten finish.
