  • He receieved the Association of Tennis Professionals [ATP] Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award in 2010. 
  • He was awarded the Eklavya award by the Government of Karnataka in 2005 for his achievements in the field of tennis. 



One of India's leading professional players who has distinguished himself in doubles. As a singles player he did not go far, was ranked 213 in 2007 but in doubles he rose to world number 3 in 2013. A key member Indian Davis Cup team since 2002 his big achievements as a doubles player was finishing runner up in the US Open in 2010 with a Pakistan player Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, The two had a rollicking time as leading doubles player in the world, winning four challenger titles in quick succession.


In 2010 the pair broke into the top 10. They reached the quarters in the Wimbledon, finished runner up in five ATP tournaments and won the Johannesburg Open. He also had a steady link with Mahesh Bhupathi in doubles and excelled in several major event in the world. Partnering others, Bopanna has had the distinction of being in two semifinals in Wimbledon and two times in French Open. He had also Bopanna played a decisive role in taking India past Brazil and into the World group in 2010, for the first time since 1998.


He has also had a good experience in mixed doubles and has played alongside Saina Mirza in the Hopman Cup (2007 and 2008) . By virtue of his 10th rank in the world, Bopanna earned a doubles entry for the country in Rio. He will play in the doubles (Leander Paes) and mixed doubles (Sania Mirza).Bopanna had played in the London Olympics.
